“History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.”
-Dwight D. Eisenhower

I have been working in the capacity of Director of Multimedia for several months now and I have quietly keep my eyes open for a better position. I found a Video Producer position open at my Alma Matter Northeastern University. I enlisted the assistance of my favorite Professor at the University and he got me the hiring Managers name. I sent her an email first via Linkedin, Then a week later to her email at NEU. Then another one. I finally tracked her down to her personal business site and she finally responded saying that I should have sent the email to her NEU email. ???
I reported back to my professor friend and he said he has heard stories like this before regarding the hiring department at NEU. That’s not a good thing for now I am soured on the process of submitting my application to a woman I now have a contentious relationship with.
I would love an opportunity to apply for the position but the hiring person has made it impossible now for me to apply by ignoring all my inquiries. It’s very frustrating how social media, email can let you down like this. It’s even more frustrating when it’s your Alma Matter that is the culprit in this case.
Thankfully I still retain memories from my Northeastern experience. I am still very close with friends with many I attended school there. I would have loved to work there, but maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.
Have you ever had a friend that only calls you when he needs to move, or have furniture moved in his house. Maybe he can’t remember that great NYC Steak restaurant you both went together to a few years back and he needs reminding. Perhaps he forgot where Dinosaur barbecue in Harlem is again, or where a good 12 mile bike route is in Boston or perhaps where he could find a good video crew… Really?
Did you try and get together with this person anyway because you have been friends sorta for almost 30 plus years. You invited him out to golf ½ a dozen times to lunch two or three times and dinner twice. Finally you try, and he says your invitation to dinner is bad on two fronts. One he just got fired while on vacation in Italy, and the bike route he needed was not needed the same night as the dinner party but was needed now because the bikes were on the rack at 9am on a Friday.
When you asked him to dinner that one last time, was your heart exhausted? Did dread creep in that he might actually accept? That’s because you are no longer friends and the other person is treating you like a Concierge. Your friendship with said person died a few years back and its time to simply move on.
I’m not sorry, but I am nobody’s fucking Concierge, and it’s ironic in this case because said ex-friend has a wife in the hospitality industry. She is not a concierge however. She is a Catering Director or Beverage manager, whatever.
I am not sure how this happened but I got so sick of it, and I have written this person off now. It’s too bad it came to this but perhaps on his death bed he will remember he needs something, then again I hope he doesn’t.
Today I found a charge on my Bank statement today from Privacy Source DES a company affiliated with Bank Of America. I had never heard of them before today. It appears however that according to Angela Jeffrey in their offices they have been stealing 129.99 out of my account rather anonymously for over 8 years. The total theft of the amount stolen over this time period is 1039.92. The reason the charges went unnoticed is because the company is supposed to protect you from identity theft for Bank of America.
If this seems confusing it is. It gets much worse. I was supposed to have received a welcome packet and an ID card some 7+ years ago in 2005. When I pressed on I found that the mailings were not going to the right address at all. These mailings containing my personal credit information and credit card accounts have instead been sent to the wrong address for 8+ years.
I am aghast by the negligence of both Privacy Source DES and their affiliated partner Bank of America for letting this occur and continue to occur. I have stopped the most recent payment and was told that payment would be returned. I have asked that the full amount of 1039.92 be returned immediately.
If Privacy Source DES appears on your Bank of America Statement and you did not request their services call the office of the President at Privacy Source DES and ask for Megan Baron at 877-799 2511.
To learn more about Bank of America’s affiliation with Privacy Source DES please see

If you wish to file a complaint with your local attorney generals office against Privacy Source DES and or Bank of America you can find your local attorney general in your state listed in this National Directory of Attorney General’s. NAAG | Current Attorneys General .
Dear People of Earth can we agree on one thing? No it’s not about war, religion, politics or anything that will save lives or benefit humanity. It’s about your social media icon. Can we all agree that by now everyone on the planet (that can access the internet via a computer) should be able to log into a social media channel and upload a picture of themselves or what they represent. Is it still too hard to do?
Perhaps its a vanity problem? Are there just too many good pictures of you to choose from that you cannot settle on just one? Really? Maybe its another problem entirely and the other pictures of you don the walls of the US Postal Service. Whatever it is, come out of the Cyber closet. So which is it?
I hope it’s not simply the fact that nobody has taken the time to help you put a picture on your Facebook or Twitter accounts that would be just sad, and kind of counter to the helpfulness that social media was originally intended for.
If you fall into the later category in earnest and need help please write me. I am here to help.
Dionne Warwick I apologize in advance this blog has nothing to do with your iconic 60’s song but here is a link to it in case people were looking for it, and or are too young to get my inane reference.
This blog is about a crowd-sourcing tool I use to beat the dreaded Boston area traffic. It’s name is WAZE and I first learned of it at work at the Volpe center in Cambridge.
At first I thought it was kind of silly but it has literally saved me hours off my commuting. This app pulls from all the recent posts and check ins done along a given route and gives you crowd-sourced accurate feedback on the different routes to Boston that are light in traffic.
From Metrowest MA, some days it’s the Pike, some days route 9, others Route 30. It relies on people providing the feedback and people do, and do and do. They call out cars on the shoulder, speed traps accidents and congestion. It’s got groups so you can send the info to groups like the Metrowest Wazers to name one I joined. You get points for helping others and you grow as a Wazer. There is also a link to foursquare so you can check in through it as well. There is also a section of low pricing at gas stations. It’s a very cool app and it just gets better as more people start to use it. The more users the better the information on the morning commute. So start using WAZE today, and save time on yours and My commute.

Dear Skip this is your golf clubs writing.
We are starting to feel pretty neglected. I know last year the season started really really really really late after the Bruins won the Stanley cup. We also know you met someone, but she doesn’t even play golf she just likes watching it apparently. Skip, we used to be much closer and now We don’t even know who you are anymore. Your Trek Madone is quick to point out that he has been riding with you regularly, speeding through the hills of Manchester by the sea and metro-west. You keep him inside the house not down in the garage, we are starting to take it personally.
We were a team once, You, us, a bag of balls, that fat guy Phil and a small cooler of beer. What happened where did you go? Where did our drives down the fairway disappear to?
You must not have to take long walks to find happiness anymore, to think about stuff. I remember the days when you were all over the place trying to find your way out of the woods, traps and water holes.
Things have changed obviously, and we just want you to know that if things don’t work out with Tazgirl We will be waiting for you in the dusty musky corner of the garage right where you left us last year after that SBANE golf tournament fiasco, those were good times.
Please come back! We miss your bad chips, your horrible putts and god awful drives that nearly kill people but we are family aren’t we? Didn’t your grandmother always say you reminded her of Johnny Miller?
We will be waiting
Sincerely,
Your Golf Clubs.
I had filtered out most of the social media crowd these last six months for no other reason then to see if anyone noticed. Nobody did. I have now changed the parameters and added those same people as close friends. Some may notice, but I will have just have to wait and see. I am beginning to think that social media while a great marketing tool for some makes us lazy socially. I remember when using the telephone to call somebody up was what you did. I recently called Jeff Cutler up to wish him a happy birthday on the phone. I think calling and wishing a person a happy birthday is almost out of vogue. We have lost that sense of connection somehow. I hope to make the telephone a bigger part of my social mix so if I call you I hope you won’t be offended.
How are things with you?
Happy Memorial day weekend!
